Lucy Van Hook, Director of Community Development

Lucy Van HookLucy is very pleased to join the Our Katahdin team to focus on community development. Over the past ten years, she has worked with inland and coastal communities throughout Maine engaging community members in innovative approaches to addressing local problems. As the Fisheries Program Manager with Maine Coast Fishermen’s Association, Lucy worked with fishermen on policy and project solutions to sustain their businesses. Lucy helped develop a methodology to quantify greenhouse gas emissions from energy efficiency improvements in residential buildings to generate a new revenue stream to weatherize additional homes in Maine.

For several years, Lucy has been working with Maine foundations on community-based solutions for energy efficiency and improving community resilience. She has also spent many hours in a kitchen catering weddings, and enjoys throwing pots in her home studio. Lucy holds a B.A. from Bowdoin College, where she majored in Biology and Environmental Studies, and a M.S. in Climate Science and Policy from Bard Environmental Policy Center. Lucy lives in Millinocket with her husband, new daughter, and black fuzzy pup.
