Restoring a regional holiday tradition!
In 2014, Our Katahdin collected donations from area residents and alumni to decorate the Millinocket bandstand for Christmas. The Katahdin Region Holiday Committee has offered to continue this tradition in 2015. We look forward to the lighting of the bandstand!
The Holiday Committee would like to bring back another Katahdin region tradition for area children to enjoy over the Christmas holidays. They want to purchase a SANTA CLAUS HOUSE to place in Veteran’s Park, where area children can visit with the Jolly Old Elf as they have in years past. The Santa House will be donated to the town of Millinocket. The Public Works Department will deliver the Santa House to the Park after Thanksgiving, and return it to the Town Garage after the holidays.
The building is 8’ x 12’, with a door and two windows. The inside is unfinished for now, with a particleboard floor. It will have a metal roof to withstand heavy snowfalls. Mike Rioux has offered to wire it at no charge.
