  • Request for Proposals - 230 Penobscot Construction Manager

    Our Katahdin is seeking a qualified Construction Manager for the renovation of a vacant two-story building of approximately 10,500 square feet at 230 Penobscot Avenue in Millinocket. The project is supported by funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, Penobscot County, and Eastern Maine Development Corporation. The project will consist of exterior finish replacement, interior renovations, and new space configurations on two floor levels and upgrades to the building's mechanical, electrical and water services. OK is requesting proposals from qualified Construction Managers to execute the project.

    The Maine Department of Economic and Community Development and Maine Department of Environmental Protection have awarded Our Katahdin a Brownfields Revolving Loan Fund award in the sum of $1,000,000 to support redevelopment of Wastewater Treatment Plant Lagoons on the former Great Northern Paper mill in Millinocket, Maine. Our Katahdin is requesting proposals from qualified environmental professionals to assist with implementation of the grant-funded cleanup.

  • Tank Farm & Rail Corridor Clearing Project - Pre-bid Meeting

    OUR KATAHDIN – FORMER GREAT NORTHERN PAPER MILL – #6 FUEL OIL TANK FARM & RAIL CORRIDOR CLEARING PROJECT – TREE CLEARING/GRUBBING
     
    Our Katahdin will hold an on-site pre-bid meeting at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, November 21, 2023. Our Katahdin was awarded an EPA Brownfields Cleanup Grant for the #6 Fuel Tank Farm & Rail Corridor and is seeking a contractor to remove small trees and vegetation from the area, presumably chipping the bio-mass, and hauling the chips away from the site. All bidders are encouraged to attend a non-mandatory pre-bid walkthrough on Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at 10:00 A.M. Please meet at the One North Poplar Street gate at the intersection of Route 11 and the Golden Road.

  • Advertisement for Bids - Cleanup of the Wastewater Treatment Plant

    Ransom Consulting, LLC (Ransom), on behalf of Our Katahdin (OK), will receive bids for an abatement and cleanup project at the Wastewater Treatment Plant and Clarifier on the former Great Northern Paper (GNP) Mill property in Millinocket, Maine (the “Site”), until February 16, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. local time. Bids shall be accepted via email to Jaime Madore, P.E. of Ransom (Jaime.madore at ransomenv dot com). Owner will consider bids prepared in compliance with the Instructions to Bidders issued by Owner; all components of the bid submission must be scanned and be legible; and hard/original copies of the bid documents must be provided to Ransom prior to contract signing.  Proof of bid security shall be submitted with each bid in the amount of five percent of the bid amount. No bids may be withdrawn for a period of 60 days after opening of bids. Owner reserves the right to reject any and all bids and to waive informalities and irregularities. Contractor will be selected based on cost, schedule, and experience. A mandatory Prebid meeting will be held at the Site on Thursday, February 9, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. local time.

    This notice is to inform the public that Our Katahdin Capital is submitting an application to receive funding from the Maine Department of Economic and Community Development Brownfield Revolving Loan Fund (RLF) to perform cleanup activities at the former Miller’s Department Store located at 230 Penobscot Avenue in Millinocket, Maine. RLF Grant funds would be used to cleanup and abate pigeon guano and hazardous building materials to support redevelopment and reuse of the building. A copy of the draft application and a Draft Analysis of Brownfield Cleanup Alternatives (ABCA) is currently available for public review at the Our Katahdin Capital office located at 245 Aroostook Avenue in Millinocket, and on Our Katahdin Capital’s website.

  • Portland-based renewable energy company to expand into Millinocket

    MILLINOCKET – Creating the next generation of a river-driven power system will be the focus of a testing facility at One North, the former Great Northern Paper Mill site in Millinocket.

    Portland-based Ocean Renewable Power Co. announced Monday it was partnering with Our Katahdin to create the testing center.

    Ocean Renewable, known as ORPC, develops renewable power systems that harness energy from free-flowing rivers and tidal currents. Read more
